Pavement Ends Bumpers

Pavement Ends Bumpers
History
Pavement Ends has been in business since 1999.  They have created a name in the business by manufacturing and selling Jeep tops and accessories.  They also make tops for a few other vehicles.  These tops are very affordable.  More recently, they have started manufacturing and selling Jeep bumpers.  That is what we will discuss here today.

Front Bumpers

Pavement Ends front bumpers are made with high quality 3/16” steel.  It has maximum strength because it is of a stamped construction.  You can get them for the Jeep TJ or the Jeep JK.  They include D-ring brackets for mounting and are powder coated to create a scratch resistant surface.  If you want to customize your bumper with lights, or whatever, the back of the bumper has an open construction to make this easier for you.  Most states now require license plates on both the front and the rear of your vehicle.  Pavement Ends has taken this into consideration and has pre-drilled the mounting holes for you.  They also offer a winch plate as an accessory.

Rear Bumpers

Just like the front bumpers, the rear bumpers are available for the Jeep TJ and JK, Have a powder coating and include the mounting brackets.  They also have the same stamped steel as the material.  The construction design is a solid box to enhance strength and the edges are angled giving it that sleek, aerodynamic look.  Again like the front bumper, the holes for mounting your license plate are pre-drilled.

Installation

Installation of Pavement Ends bumpers is really quite simple.  The 1” D-ring mounting brackets are included with the bumper when you purchase it.  Simply take your old bumper off, put the new bumper on and secure it with the brackets.  Voila!  Your new bumper is in place and ready to go.

Where to Buy

Unfortunately, Pavement Ends does not sell directly to the public.  However, you can get their products all over the place.  Just go online and do a search for whatever Pavement Ends product you want and you will get a load of buying options.  Also, if you go online to the Pavements Ends web site, you can find a dealer near you who stocks their parts.

Warranty

All Pavement Ends parts come with a warranty.  They differ from part to part, but for the bumpers, the manufacturer’s warranty covers the bumper for up to a year.  You should always read the fine print though.

Pavement Ends Soft Top

Beginning in 1999, Pavement Ends has made tops for Jeeps.  They make replacement tops, emergency tops and soft tops.  They also make front and rear bumpers for Jeeps.  They have become a respected brand known for high quality products at prices you can afford.

Soft Tops

I know you have seen the Jeeps riding down the road with the really cool looking soft tops, right?  Did you ever wonder if they were factory or after-market?  Some of them can be ordered from the factory, but most of them are after-market.  In fact, most of the ones that you see probably came from Pavement Ends.

Pavement Ends soft tops are interesting because they have a sunroof that you can fold back so that you can still take advantage of the sun and good weather while having the feeling of protection that a roof on your Jeep offers.  These soft tops are called Flip Tops.

If you know anything about the belt-rail system, then you know how easy it is to install these tops.  If you don’t know anything about it, trust me…it’s easy.

These tops are sold as kits.  The kits contain the soft top, hardware, windows and the soft top deck.  If you would like upper doors of the same soft top material, those are available on some models.

The way these tops are made sure offer you a degree of safety.  They are constructed from auto grade fabric and the vinyl that is used on the side and rear windows is DOT approved.  The weakest points of course would be the seams, but these are reinforced and sealed seams with all thread and zippers used being of industrial strength.

The only color available for this top is called black denim.

Installation

Installation instructions are included in the packaging materials with the soft top.  These installation materials will let you know what tools you need if any.  This is a very simple installation and you could probably do it with your eyes closed once you have done it once or twice.

Warranty

All Pavement Ends products come with warranties.  These warranties are always included in the packing materials and in this case it is actually attached to the installation instructions.  The tops are warrantied for a year, but you need to be sure to read all of the fine print and the limitations of the warranties of anything you purchase.

Pavement Ends Soft Top Review

I own a Jeep with a hard top.  I kept seeing those Jeeps with the soft tops when I would be out driving and I thought they looked really cool so I decided to look into getting one for my Jeep.  I didn’t have a large budget so I was not actually thinking about purchasing one right now.  Maybe down the road after I saved up a bit I could get one.  I figured I had better start pricing though so I would know how much to put back.

When I started doing my research, I noticed that all of these soft tops had different options and extras depending on what company they were made by or what brand they carried.  All of these options added to the price which was outside my budget anyway.  Undaunted, I carried on with my research.  Some of the soft tops said that professional installation would be required.  That would naturally add even more to a price that I already could not afford.  I kept track of all of my research and narrowed down what I wanted as far as options, installation and so forth.

Recently, a friend who had heard what I was looking for called me up and asked me if I had checked into Pavement Ends soft tops.  I said no, I had never heard of them.  He told me to check into it because another friend of his had just gotten one and it was great.

I went unhappily to the web site thinking this was just going to be another let down.

The web site was straight forward and clear cut.  I easily found exactly what I was looking for and was even amazed when I found it was WITHIN my budget!

As soon as I got it, I realized I could do this installation myself!  I got the Flip Top model because that was what I had been looking for.  Installation was simple; it didn’t even take a long time.  Shortly thereafter, I was cruising around in my Jeep with my soft top on and my flip top sunroof open.

I called my friend back and thanked him heartily and offered to take him for a ride so he could check out the new top.  He loved it too and now he is talking about buying a Jeep just so he can install a Pavement Ends soft top and enjoy it on the open road.

Pavement Ends Emergency Top

Pavement Ends Emergency Top
Since 1999 Pavement Ends has been providing quality soft tops, replacement tops, emergency tops and accessories for those tops; all for Jeeps.  Recently they expanded to include bumpers to their product line.  That would be both front and rear bumpers.  For the purposes of our conversation here though, we will only be talking about emergency tops.
What?
Ok, so maybe some of you do not have a clue as to what an emergency top is.  This section is for you.  Have you ever been in a situation in your Jeep where you had the top off and were out enjoying your day with a road trip when all of a sudden…downpour!  Ok.  With the scene now set, we will continue with the explanation.  A Jeep emergency top is for just those kinds of situations.  If you don’t want the interior of your Jeep wet and yourself soaked to the skin, you should have a Pavement Ends emergency top available.
Features
The first thing that you should know is that the emergency top does not have doors.  The color of these tops is black.  They do have windows and those windows are tinted.  They are made of a sturdy fabric material and can be stored under the seat of your Jeep so that you will have it when you need it.  It comes in a handy storage bag and includes two ponchos for you to use as needed.  This is a very lightweight top.
Precautions
Ok, you just read that this does not have doors.  The first precaution would be to always wear you seatbelt so you do not fall out.  Secondly, this is just what it says…an EMERGENCY top.  It is not a top that will withstand you going 70mph on the highway in the rain.  Take it easy.  Arrive alive.
Warranty
All Pavement Ends tops come with a warranty.  This particular top carries a year long factory warranty.  All warranty information will be found in the packing material that the top came in and should be read very carefully and thoroughly so that you know your rights if the unthinkable happens and you need to use the warranty.
Where to Buy
Unfortunately, at this time, Pavement Ends does not market directly to the public.  If you want a Pavement Ends emergency top, you will have to find it at an online retailer or go to the Pavement Ends web site to locate a dealer near you.
